How to put items in Fable 2 on control pad?

I am wondering how to put items in Fable 2 on control pad like drinks, and foods?How to put items in Fable 2 on control pad?
Actually, I don't think that there is a way to program food on the control pad. Annoying, if I don't want to end up eating a living chick or too much meat to get fat. The food only just goes there by itself, not programmed, I believe. If you want to avoid eating too much meat, or anything, just buy a lot of potions, or tofu, or something not fattening. Or just remove the fattening or corrupting foods, and grab food from the menu. That's all I can tell you, so far. Sorry!
