Why is it important to take the birth control the same time every day?

Also, i'm on the birth control Orthro Tri Cyclen LOW, because its a low dose of estrogen does this make it less effective? Why is it important to take the birth control the same time every day?
No not because of those reasons but because if u dont the effectiveness of the pill goes down and u have a higher chance of getting pregnant. Why is it important to take the birth control the same time every day?
Because if you take it at the same time everyday you're sure to be protected at all times. One pill is sure to cover you for 24 hrs. And no that doesn't make it less effective.
No, the low does does not make it less effective. When birth control was first developed, they assumed that a large amount of the hormones was needed to overide a Woman's reproductive system. However, through more testing it was discovered that lower doses of hormones are still as effective. Now we also have mini-pills which are the lowest dose you can get and they are still effective at preventing pregnancy.

It is important to take at the same time everyday so the levels of the hormone do not drop below a certain point. Your body cycles through hormones all the time and if you are not replacing the hormone, it may make your body revert back to its normal functioning thereby leaving you at risk for ovulating and thus, for pregnancy.

so you can get into the routine of taking them and not forget.
Very low dosages of estrogen do not work as effectively as a birth control as normal doses. If you take it 6 hours later than normal, you could become pregnant. It is quite time dependent.

I take Loestrin for a medical problem, but the doc was very clear that I needed to use a second form of birth control if I absolutely can't get pregnant.
Taking them at the same times helps maintain an even level of hormones in your body at all times. This is important for maximum effectiveness, esp. low-dose pills.
Any birth control pill should be taken at about the same time everyday because it is giving you doses of hormones. If you take it at all different times of the day you have the potential to lowering the amount of protection you get from it. I find it helpful to take in in conjunction with another routine like right after I brush my teeth in the morning. Also if you take it at the same time everyday you will be less likely to forget to take it. Also the low dose doesn't mean that it is less effective, the only thing you may notice with a low dose pill is that you could have break through bleeding throughout the month. If this happens go see your doctor and they will just put you on the next dose up from that one. Low doses are safer to take.

Hope this helps! Take care!!
