How to have remote CONTROL of an WinXp computer?

Hello!

I must often help various persons with their computer problems (files missing, how to print, scan...).

I tried the Remote desktop, but it doesn't let me manipulate the computer while the user is logged in.

So does Windows Xp Professional have any tools that would allow me to browse (in real time) an users computer WHILE he is still logged on?How to have remote CONTROL of an WinXp computer?

Try using the other one. There's a Remote Assistance application in Windows XP that lets the user to choose wether to email a friend or find a person nearby using the same operating system to ask for help.
Ya, u can use VNC tools like Ultra VNC (some are open source and free). LogMeIn is also a great alternative

Or still better , use remote desktop feature of WinXP.Goto Run and type conf
go to www.logmein.com

Create an account with a password you don't mind sharing.

Have the other person go onto the account and download the logmein client on their computer.

Then, go to the website and use the remote connect to access the PC. (this requires a special plug-in for most browsers, but it is provided to you by the site)

It's pretty easy and self explanatory to use, the most difficult part is getting it on their computer (but you can do that yourself).
